When LochenHeath Golf Club opened in 2001 it was greeted with great fanfare and reviews. The panoramic views of Grand Traverse Bay, rolling terrain, exceptional length and strategic and dramatic Scottish-style bunkering made LochenHeath the player’s choice in Traverse City.
In 2004, architect Steve Smyers was called back to build two new holes and eliminate two holes for development expansion. While on site, he softened the green complexes, widened landing areas and added length to the championship tees. The outstanding changes made LochenHeath more playable for every caliber of golfer.
LochenHeath was designed within a 600-acre cherry orchard right in the heart of America’s Cherry Capital. The course rolls through the trees yet offers generous landing areas. The sixth hole was placed on the waters edge of Grand Traverse Bay while the course offers visuals settings of the bay on holes 16 and 18.
The practice facility is second to none in Michigan with target greens and bunkers dotting the landing area. There are two large putting greens as well a massive green for sand trap practice and another green for approach and chipping. Multi directional tees, a practice fairway bunker, and the entire practice area overlook the bay.
The pro shop and restaurant are perched on the bluff with outstanding bay views through out, especially from the large full-service deck. LochenHeath offers a lunch menu, beverage cart service, box lunches and nightly dinners. If your group wants a special meal not found on the menu, our culinary staff will not disappoint while providing the best food service in Northern Michigan.
LochenHeath is more then a beautiful golf course and a wonderful facility. Every employee prides themselves on exemplary personal service and excellent course conditioning, just what you’d expect of General Manager Mike Husby, a 36-year career professional. Mike puts his stamp of solid customer service on each aspect of the facility, which makes playing LochenHeath even more of a special day. Now that LochenHeath is a public venue, you can experience the Husby touch first hand. Come visit and discover an entire new game. |
